"Throw your nets on the other side of the boat"

My soul, be at rest in God alone, from whom comes my hope.

Psalm 62:6

Be we ever so humble, there's no place like home...

Welcome to the theology guy virtual home page. Our true home has many things to offer, one of which is study. Theology opens the doors to the Sacred, calls us to listen to God's design within our own minds, and then live like we understand that knowledge of God.

Theology does not create Truth, it merely explores it. To find the Truth first turn to God and accept His mystery. True knowledge comes from outside of us, comprehension and understanding of that knowledge comes from within through the guidance of the Spirit.

“...although faith is above reason, there can never be any real discrepancy between faith and reason, since the same God who reveals mysteries and infuses faith has bestowed the light of reason on the human mind.” (Vatican I, Dogmatic Constitution on the Catholic Faith, 4)
Discussion and meditation
According to Alfred North Whitehead, progress is not always a forward motion and the past and the future coexist with one impinging on the other in each moment.
Human experience and hubris often mix to create either nostalgia or myopia. The human need to understand is important but can cause us to dismiss or cling blindly to what we do not understand. We must discuss ideas and doubts without fear. We must muse upon them in our bed and listen for the answers that come into our hearts.
Take a moment and contemplate the great and glorious nature of our God. Even the evil and suffering caused by our sin is offset by the wonderful gift of salvation he offers us. Religious affiliation is not the boundary of theology and certainly not of God's Revelation or love. Take a moment and bask in it, then take a moment to reflect on it. Finally, take a moment to share it.

Reflection
Often we try to equate the reflections of one world in another. Reflections are imperfect and trying to find a one to one correlation between the two sides of the mirror can be frustrating and confusing. The secular and the theological are not reflections of one another, but complimentary images where one can apply one to the other and learn within one from the other. In that sense, Science and Religion solve different problems and the tools of neither should be used to "prove" the other but each can be used to enhance one another.
There are places in this world that you want to visit again and again, places of excitement, peace, love, joy, contentment. Similarly, prayer is a continuous return to the source. Like revisiting web sites and social media daily, take a moment to revisit your relationship with God. Let this site be a reminder of head and heart. Muse on God often but talk with God more often.
If you want to understand God's plan for you in your life then talk to Him...He has a lot to discuss with you. Not just in times of trouble but all the time, everyday, every hour; pray always!
Faith and theology
Faith is the sum of Truths. Theology is the human means of understanding and expressing that Truth. Theology then is merely human speculation and does not replace the truth and the lived experience of Faith, in fact it relies upon it, and is cold and meaningless without it!

My Mission
There is but one mission, and that is the mission of spreading the word of God and thereby making Him real to the world.

As I travel down the "self-help"  aisle in book stores and on-line, I wonder why, as the faithful, we are not getting our message out. Most likely because we are not putting it into practice or not putting out into the world in such a way that it is true. Hopefully this site is an attempt at that.

This site is not about discussing the merits of religion nor the existence of God. If you seek that then there are many sites to help you accomplish that goal. This site is about theology and theological concepts, their study and their teaching, but mostly it is a reminder about seeking God. Therefore, it assumes and precludes (apriori if you will) a God and your belief in that God. Hence the origin of this site is God and that all things emanate from him and return to him. Little room for foundational doubt but plenty of room for questioning and discovery.
